Audra Mcdonald is a standout in the breadth of her talent and her versatility in her roles as a performer and singer. A record six-time recipient from the Tony Awards, two Grammy Awards as well as an Emmy Award she received in the year 2015 by Barack Obama. In 1999, she co-starred with Kathy Bates and Victor Garber on the Disney/ABC television version of Annie. Then, in 2000, she played an recurring role on the NBC show Law & Order Special Victims Unit. McDonald's Emmy nominated performance as Emma Thompson in Mike Nichols' HBO film adaptation of Pulitzer Prize winner Wit was directed by Mike Nichols. McDonald's return to the network TV screen came in 2003 in which she co-starred with Josh Brolin in Mister Sterling. The Bedford Diaries, a WB television show that premiered in 2006. She then had a recurring part on NBC's Kidnapped within the next year. McDonald was nominated for a fourth Emmy in 2016 for her part in HBO's production called Lady Day, at Emerson's Bar & Grill. The following year, McDonald starred with Taylor Schilling and Steven Pasquale as part of The Bite, a pandemic drama co-produced by Spectrum Originals and CBS Studios. McDonald initially played U.S. lawyer Liz Lawrence (now Liz Reddick), in CBS's Legal drama The Good Wife, in 2009. In 2018 she reprised the role on The Good Fight for Paramount+ as a regular in the series. The performance earned her three Critics Choice Award Nominations. The actress is currently guest on Julian Fellowes' period film The Gilded Age.
